JOB DUTIES

The Operations Supervisor demonstrates commitment to Stack HIP’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values. Leads an operations team that communicates effectively, is properly trained, works safely, understands the quality requirements for the work performed, is committed to continual improvement, and working within the Quality Management System (QMS). Committed to ensuring the team has the tools/equipment to safely accomplish the tasks as assigned. The Operations Supervisor will have working experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts, 5S, and Kaizen principles. The Operations Supervisor will participate in team building, operational success projects, safety initiatives, quality initiatives, and continual improvement projects. Responsible for measuring and reporting on Key Process Indicators (KPIs) as assigned. For example, equipment utilization, on time delivery, employee utilization. Will provide direct supervision of daily operations to include production scheduling, receiving, production planning (shop floor), and shipping. This role will also interact periodically with Stack Sales and Finance teams as well as directly with customers. The Operations Supervisor will apply a working knowledge of manufacturing safety requirements and compliance to promote a safe working environment for employees as well as customers, vendors, and our neighbors. Experience working in a Nadcap, AS9100, ISO9001 or equivalent certified facility preferred. Six Sigma Greenbelt, or equivalent training is preferred, but not a requirement.

Specific duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

Safety
Responsible for:
Ensuring the proper Safety Training, and Safety Certifications and Training records are in place for direct reports
Responsible for participating in Safety Evaluations for all new processing equipment to include Safety Documentation (LOTO, PPE required…)
Support the creation, implementation, and enforcement of procedures to promote the safety and security of employees, visitors, neighbors, equipment, and our customer’s product while onsite
As a member of the Stack HIP Leadership Team, responsible for employees working safe, following safety rules/requirements, correcting unsafe conditions, and reporting and helping resolve any conditions found not readily resolved to the General Manager, Stack HIP
Responsible for promoting and adhering to the Near Miss safety program
Supports, and at times will lead, Root Cause and Corrective Actions related to Production Safety issues.
Participates and promotes companywide safety initiatives
Participates as a Management Representative member of the site Safety Committee
Productivity
Responsible for:
Ensure proper staffing and scheduling of staff to maintain safe operations
Ensuring production schedules are achieved to include shipping and receiving
Ensuring efficient and effective loading of equipment to maximize equipment overall utilization
Participates and may lead HIP related continual improvement initiatives
Supports production equipment and facilities equipment installations
Works with Stack HIP Engineering Manager to coordinate maintenance activities with the proper internal resources
Works with the Stack HIP Quality Manager on new product qualifications and recipes
Reports on Key Process Indicators (KPIs), records, tracks, and post KPIs
Communications
Communicates with customers to promote efficient and effective production scheduling to meet customer turn times
Communicates with customers to coordinate shipping and receiving of customer products to and from Stack HIP
Works internally with Quality to resolve both internal and customer related quality issues
Communicates frequently with the HIP GM on general operational status and any issues
Communicates with larger SMG team on various topics both HIP specific as well as SMG related
Quality
Responsible for
Operations team training for tasks they are performing
Ensuring direct reports understand and have a working knowledge of the QMS as its applicable to their job duties
Ensuring team properly completes all job-related paperwork to include proper documentation is recorded, stamped, and that product meets customer quality requirements per the released job cards upon completion
Periodic validation, informal auditing, of operators’ job processing paperwork to help promote zero escapes
Supports Quality Manager on audits such as Nadcap, ISO, AS9100, Customer, and internal
Supports and at times will lead Root Cause and Corrective Actions related to Operational Quality issues
Leadership
Responsible for
Training and development of direct reports
Responsible for participating in weekly GM staff meeting
Responsible for preparation, posting, and presenting KPI results at monthly team meetings
Responsible for facilitating workflow integration and safety for any new and/or replacement equipment
Participate in new hire interviewing and/or onboarding
Direct reports annual reviews
Direct report disciplinary actions working with HR
Other duties as assigned
Travel will be minimal but may be required from time to time. Estimated travel is no more than 5% annually with overnight trips being minimal
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

Works with the General Manager to recommend, plan, and execute major capital projects. Makes sound recommendations for remedial actions in those circumstances where specific operational KPIs are below expectations. Justify any variable and/or capital expense in the context of a return on that investment. Develops a thorough understanding of Stack HIP financial performance targets, and results. Make recommendations relating to maintenance and operations to improve financial performance. Provide support with the integration of any future equipment installations at Stack HIP. Is able to work effectively without direct oversite. Able to develop, maintain, and build professional relationships with peers, superiors, and direct reports.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct supervision of all general operators and maintenance staff at Stack HIP.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree from four-year college or technical school preferred but not required; 5+ years’ experience supervising/managing highly effective production teams required. Five years’ experience working in an ISO9001, ISO13485, AS9100, or Nadcap certified production environment or equivalent preferred. Experience working with an ERP software preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Competency in working with various software applications such as ERP systems and basic applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and can adapt well to newer applications.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
